Remembrance Parade 2008
On Sunday 9th
November the Scout groups of Didsbury 88th Manchester, 2/241st
Manchester and 306th Manchester met at 88th Manchester HQ
for this year’s Remembrance Day Parade. This year we were also joined by other
Scout groups from our district 2/249th Manchester, St Wilfred’s and
the leaders from 23rd Manchester.
The parade this year was the
largest contingent of Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network and leaders
that we have had and took longer than usual to assemble the parade outside the
hut.
I quick look outside the sun
was shinning a break in the weather which had been very cold and wet, the order
was coats off and assemble outside, moans were heard all around the scout hut. The
Parade set off at 10:35am and headed towards the war memorial to join the
members of the public and the congregations of St James and Emmanuel churches.
We had been wondering where
the DC was but Ian arrived just in time after being stuck in traffic.
After a short service the wreaths
were laid, this year 306th Manchester laid the wreath on behalf of
the Scouts from Manchester South District. After parading back to the Scout Hut
the parade was dismissed and everyone race to get inside the Scout hut to grab
their coats and get warm.
I would like to thank all the
leaders who turned out for the Remembrance Parade and pass on our thanks to all
your Beavers, Cubs and Scouts that attended.
Alan Robinson (ADC Cubs)
